Pre- Season Updates of IPL 2021- #IndiaKaApnaMantra

IPL 2021: Cricket- the religion of India is back with the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League.

Right from the UAE, we are back in India after this short gap from the last season and this time held in 4 neutral locations- Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, Ahemdabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium and Chennai’s M.A. Chidambaram Stadium are set to host the matches amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. There will be no home-ground benefit to any of the teams.  Let’s look at what the teams are up to as they start their preparation for the tournament!

PRE-SEASON UPDATES:-

Defending champions Rohit Sharma led- Mumbai Indians released an official statement on 6th April which stated that Scout and Wicket Keeping Consultant Mr Kiran More tested positive for COVID-19  and is in the quarantine facility at present. Updates in from the neutral venue at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai where unfortunately 20 out of the 30 match staff tested COVID-19 positive. In a respite from these times, clarifications from BCCI President- Sourav Ganguly as he stated that Mumbai will continue to host the 10 IPL matches this year because once the players are in the Bio-Bubble they are absolutely safe.

Finishers at spot 2 of the 2020 tournament held in the UAE were Delhi Capitals as they are led by newly appointed captain Rishabh Pant this year in the absence of an injured Shreyas Iyer who is set to miss the league as he goes in for shoulder surgery soon. Reports on 7th April, state that pacers Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje will be missing out on their first match at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai as they will be in mandatory Quarantine for seven days after joining they joined the team on Tuesday ahead of IPL 2021.

The men in red and gold who finished at a strong spot 3,last year, Virat Kohli led Royal Challengers Bangalore have some good news coming in!! Opening batsman, Devdutt Padikkal finally gets two negative COVID-19 reports and will be seen resting on advice from the medical team for the team’s opening match against MI. Unfortunately in an official statement made by the team on 7th of April cricketer Daniel Sams tests COVID positive from his second COVID test. He is asymptomatic and is in isolation at present and will surely bounce back better!

Chennai’s Thala- M.S.Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings Chennai player Moeen Ali is now allowed to drop the liquor brand logo from his Jersey and is allowed to wear a Jersey without that particular brand as Muslim cricketers have decided against wearing a Jersey that supports or has logos of liquor brands due to their religious beliefs.

In news coming in from 2012 and 2014 Champions- Kolkata Knight Riders a new face joins the team and they are super excited to  have signed Spinner Harbhajan Singh who will look forward to raining wickets for the team. #KKRHaiTyaar with  newly appointed captain Eoin Morgan  and run-getter Shubhman Gill who are geared up for their first match against SunRisers Hyderabad on 11th April, 2021 at 7.30pm catch them live in action and Let's see how they add to the squad!

Match 56 Delhi Capitals vs Royal Challengers Bangalore

The Sheik Zayed Stadium hosted the final game of the Indian Premier League this season. The match is played between the Delhi Capitals and the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Virat Kohli wins the toss and decides to bowl against Rishabh Pant's squad. Openers Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan get their partnership going. It has been a fine start for both the players. Match-17 Mumbai Indians vs Punjab Kings

Mumbai Indians last challenge at M.A.Chidambaram stadium ends in a defeat against the Punjab Kings. A solid start was set up by MI Captain Rohit Sharma 63 (52) and steady Suryakumar Yadav 33 (27) but from there some quick wickets by the Kings' Bowling unit- Mohammed Shami 2/21 (4), Ravi Bishnoi 2/21 (4) and Deepak Hooda's 1/15(3) wickets restrict the Mumbai Indians to 131/6 (20)  And...the Punjab Kings captain KL Rahul 60* (52) along side Chris Gayle 43* (35) lead their team to a whopping 9 wickets win(14 balls left) with the sole wicket of Mayank Agarwal 25 (20) and the Mumbai Indians bowlers just couldn't do the job for their team.

Match 52 Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Royal Challengers Bangalore

 Shiekh Zayed Stadium hosted the Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Royal Challengers Bangalore today. What a complete team effort both the teams saw. Virat Kohli led Royal Challengers Bangalore saw Devdutt Paddikal and Genn Maxwell go pretty well in the innings. They were also supported by Ab De Villiers!  On the other hand, Jason Roy, Kane Williamson and Jason Holder anchor the innings for the Orange Army, but it everything went well with the batting? Was the bowling good enough? It was. Umran Malik a replacement player for T Natarajan who got COVID-19 in the IPL Bio Bubble gets his first wicket of the game! Harshal Patel and Chahal also do well for their team.  Unfortunately, towards the end, Royal Challengers Bangalore are not able to cross the finish line. SRH win this game by 4 runs.
